She's Shagadelic!!!

Wanted to share some of the interior shots of Nellie with you. She's all vintage. Course you can't really see the neon green shag carpet but trust me it's there. I love it! I had an orange room with green flower power curtains growing up as a kid so you can see why Nellie appealed so much to me. She's got the small seatee and a longer couch on the left of the first photo with a built in table you see half of which opens out. Above the left hand couch is a mounted TV so that or outside at my soon to be lounging area is where I'll be having morning coffee.

This is the right side of the aisle with a twin bed, there's one on the other side too. Plus the couch pulls out. As I get more photos I'll share. Just want to let you know where I'll be and my surroundings. Spoke to Florida today before the snowstorm. 80s and sunny--here I come! Nellie is going to her site on Friday the 2nd; I'll be at a hotel that night having just flown in and will get her in shape on the 3rd; hopefully sleep there that night. I'm having a surreal experience because I've been waiting for this all year and it's coming to fruition. I've had a lot of encouragement from all of you which I appreciate. Hope you'll come down for a stay! More soon.

Here I am with Nellie the day I bought her last January. She still had protective styrofoam in the windows. And how 'bout those gas tanks huh. She needs some shining but she is still my home away from home. She's 31' long, has central air, a living room area, full kitchen, mid-trailer sleeping quarters, great closets (thank you God) and a full bathroom with a tub. I've had her checked out over the last week and everything is up to snuff, electricity, a/c, appliances and the like. Just gotta get down there and get her in place. I'll upload some more photos this week and add to the blog soon. Thanks for all coming on this journey with me.

My New Chapter in Florida

Several years ago I saw a vintage airstream trailer on TV and thought, wouldn't it be cool to have one of those parked on the beach in Florida for the winter. I told friends about my dream and went on line in search of the perfect trailer. Then I decided to go to Florida in January of '08 and see what I could find. I went to Venice Florida and rented a condo for the month of January. My friend Di was coming for a visit so I bought the paper to see the doings for the weekend and sure enough in there was a vintage trailer advertised for sale. I picked Di up from the airport and said we're going to look at a trailer tomorrow. Earlier in the month I had surveyed trailer parks in the Venice area looking for a home for a future purchase. Anyway, we went to see the trailer, a 1976 (I was 16 that year) Airstream vintage number with neon green shag carpets and orange curtains. It was like walking back in time! It had been owned by an older couple was very clean, and I was in love. I bought it on the spot as the phone was ringing with other buyers. I told the seller to tell them it was sold. Within the course of three days I bought, registered, cleaned and had the trailer hauled to Wo Nelly storage for the next 11 months. That name Nellie (I liked I ie) stuck and that's what I named my new winter home.
I feel lucky and fortunate and excited to be going south for four months out of the cold!
